At the May 3rd meeting, Vestavia Hills Rotary was proud to welcome Will Ratliff, member of Birmingham Rotary, to speak about the 2023 International Peace Conference. This historic gathering will bring together Rotarians and Non-Rotarians from a variety of sectors to discuss ideas and propose solutions to some of the world's most complex challenges. Two award-winning Robotics Teams from Pizitz Middle School visited the April 19th meeting to share their remote-controlled creations and their plans to compete in the VEX Robotics World Championship in Dallas, May 3-5. Wish these talented students luck as they compete against teams from across the world!
Vestavia Hills Rotary raised more than $4,000 for Rotary International's Disaster Relief Fund for humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This amount includes generous contributions from member Rotarians and a $500 match from the club. Special thanks to all who have given!
Vestavia Hills Rotary awarded three $2,000 scholarships to deserving, college-bound Vestavia Hills High School seniors at the April 5th meeting. Scholarships include the Raymond Hurlbert Strive for Excellence Scholarship, the Michael Gross Service Above Self Scholarship, and the Lindy Martin Builder of Goodwill Scholarship.
